Going Green is a family affair thoroughly explored in Eco-Friendly Families. Not just a book to be read by parents, this guide can be enjoyed by
everyone in the family. Suggestions on how to taking a family’s green inventory, an eco-inspired calendar that helps manage green goal setting,
and a room by room eco-redesign all contribute to making homes more eco-friendly. Fun and fresh ideas for reducing, reusing and recycling,
innovative alternatives for marking milestones and celebrating holidays, and detailed directions for making homemade recipes and concocting
your own cleaning solutions make this a guide that goes beyond the basics.  From teaching your toddlers his first green steps to getting your
teens to green up their act, your family will be inspired to see going green as a way of life that evolves, not just a to-do checklist that ends.

This guide translates complicated global issues into straightforward language and engaging activities, making a conversation about
environmental ethics as simple as watering the houseplants with rain water, reusing back to school supplies, or hosting a neighborhood toy
swap. Recipes and instructions for all activities are included, making this guide a valuable resource you’ll refer to time and time again. By
appealing to children early in life we help ensure that the next generation will become conscientious consumers, passionate naturalists and
responsible conservationists who are personal advocates for the earth. Together, your family can take eco-actions that help the planet, save
money and preserve energy while making memories whose effects extend far beyond your own backyard.
Today's Tip for Eco-Friendly Families - The power of Baking Soda
excerpt
Eco-Friendly Families

Baking soda is an excellent all purpose cleaner. Simply dissolve 2 tablespoons of soda in a quart of water, fill spray bottle and clean
countertops, toilets, sinks and showers. If a stain or scratch mark threatens to ruin your counters, try brushing it out with a baking soda paste.
Mix water with a tablespoon of baking soda until a paste forms. Apply to area with a damp sponge and rub vigorously. This paste is also useful
for cleaning in between tile cracks and around faucet handles and sink drains. When trying to remove buildup in these hard to reach areas,
apply paste to an old toothbrush and scrub away. And yes, this same paste can also be used on your own teeth for a natural alternative to
commercial brands. If you need a souring powder, turn to baking soda again. Sprinkle where needed and clean area with a damp sponge.
Experiment with the amount of baking soda ratios you need to achieve the level of clean you want.
As my family grows, so goes my desire to live a greener lifestyle. Each month, I will be highlighting simple eco-friendly tips from my upcoming
book, linking you to relevant sites and green sources and profiling terrific consumer products that are manufactured and distributed with the
earth in mind. As always, i invite your comments and suggestions to help make this resource reach more people and promote more
environmentally minded living. Namaste.
